Safety and privacy
Safe by design, private by default
Clew is made for young people, so safety and privacy come first, not last. Here is how we look after learners, and what this website collects.
Safe sessions
Every session stays on learning
On topic
Clew gently steers off-topic conversation back to the lesson.
Unsafe talk is stopped
Clew doesn't continue conversations about unsafe or inappropriate things, and ends the session if it needs to.
Adults in the loop
Serious concerns are flagged to a parent or carer, or to the school's safeguarding lead for school accounts.
No strangers
There is no chat with other users, no public profiles and no adverts.
Your data
Only what Clew needs to teach
Children under 13 use Clew through a parent, carer or school. Schools get a data agreement before any student signs in.
Never sold
We never sell student data and never use it for advertising.
Kept to a minimum
We keep what Clew needs to tutor well, like progress and settings, and nothing more.
Yours to control
Families and schools can see, download or delete their data at any time.
Voice handled with care
Speech is used to understand what a student says during a session, not to identify them.
Accessibility
Accessible to everyone who visits
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA across this website and Clew itself, in both languages, in day and night, on phones and computers. If something gets in your way, tell us at hello@theclew.tech and we'll fix it.
This website
What this website collects
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your Reading settings are saved only in your own browser.
If you join early access, we keep your email address, who you are (for example a student, parent or teacher), your language and anything you choose to tell us. We use it only to contact you about Clew's early access, and we delete it when you ask or when early access ends.
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your details at any time by emailing hello@theclew.tech. If you're under 16, please ask a parent or carer to join for you.
