The AI tutor that asks before it tells

Clew is a voice AI tutor for maths, science and more. It talks problems through with you, asks the next good question and never just hands over the answer. Built first for neurodivergent learners, and for every student who learns their own way.

The film

A student, a tricky homework question and a tutor who won't give the game away. See how Clew helps a learner find their own way to the answer.

How Clew teaches

  • Talk it through

Clew listens, then thinks with you

Say your thinking out loud and interrupt whenever you like, or type and draw if you prefer. Clew answers in a calm, clear voice and keeps up with you.

  • Questions before answers

    Clew asks before it tells

Clew never just hands over an answer. It finds the step where you are stuck and asks the next small question, so you get there yourself and remember how.

  • Built on learning science

Clew teaches the way memory works

Questions that make you recall, practice spaced over days, worked examples and time to think. What research says helps people learn is built into every session.

How Clew teaches

Try a question

This is how a moment with Clew feels. Pick an answer, any answer: Clew replies the way it would in a session.

The question

A cake recipe needs 3/4 of a cup of sugar. You are making half the recipe. How much sugar do you need?

ClewBefore any sums: what does making half the recipe do to every amount in it?

Features

Talk, sketch and practise, then come back tomorrow to a tutor who remembers where you left off.

  • Learn out loud

Ask out loud, hear Clew explain and cut in whenever you need to. Typing works too.

  • A shared whiteboard

Clew sketches steps, diagrams and number lines, and you can draw right next to them.

  • Practice made for you

Fresh questions on the exact skill you are working on, set in the things you love.

  • Flashcards that come back

Each session becomes flashcards that return just before you would forget them.

  • Quick quizzes

Short quizzes that ask how sure you are, so you know what is solid and what is shaky.

  • Bring your own work

Snap a worksheet or upload a PDF, and Clew works through it with you, step by step.

  • A tutor that remembers

Clew remembers what you covered, where you got stuck and how you like things explained.

  • Progress you can see

Subjects break down into small skills, so you can see what you have mastered and what is next.

Built for every kind of mind

Most study tools assume everyone learns the same way. Clew starts with the students who usually get left out: learners with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, dyspraxia and other differences. What works for them works better for everyone.

  • One step at a time

Small steps, no walls of text and always a clear next move.

  • Read aloud, word by word

Each word lights up as it is read, in a calm, natural voice.

  • Text the way you read best

Font, size, spacing and colours, set once and kept everywhere.

  • No timers, no judgement

Take the time you need, and say “I'm stuck” whenever you like.

  • Explain it another way

A picture, a story, smaller steps or a real-life example, until it clicks.

  • Calm by design

Predictable screens, gentle motion and no surprise sounds.

How Clew supports every kind of mind

To add fractions, first make the bottom numbers the same. Then add the top numbers and keep the bottom one.

Questions

All questions
What is Clew?

Clew is a voice AI tutor for secondary school students, and for anyone who wants to learn. It teaches by asking questions instead of giving answers, and it is built first for neurodivergent learners.

How is Clew different from ChatGPT?

Chatbots are made to answer. Clew is made to teach: it keeps track of what you are learning, looks for the idea behind a mistake and uses questions and hints so you reason it out yourself.

Is Clew only for neurodivergent students?

No. Clew is built first for learners with ADHD, dyslexia, autism and other differences, which makes it clearer, calmer and more flexible for every student. Nobody needs a diagnosis to use any of it.

Does my child have to talk out loud?

No. Students can talk, type, draw on the whiteboard or point to what they mean, and every way counts the same. Some students think best out loud and some don't, and both are fine.

Can teachers and students use Clew on their own?

Yes. A student can learn with Clew at home without a school, and a teacher can prepare practice and quizzes without any students on Clew. When they connect, the teacher sees where the class needs help.

How much does Clew cost?

Clew is free while it is in early access. Schools and teachers can talk to us about a pilot.
